Friends of Seguin Island Light Station (FOSILS), an incorporated non-profit owner/operator of Seguin Island, located 2-3/4 miles off Fort Popham beyond the mouth of the Kennebec River, is seeking bids for the restoration and/or replacement of all 24 windows on the 1857 Seguin Light Keeper’s residence. The windows, all double-hung, in three different sizes, must be restored and/or replicated, depending on condition, to standards as specified in the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for Historic Properties, and as regulated by the Maine Historical Preservation Commission (MHPC). All window work must reflect the original 1857 structure. Architectural grade drawings and material specifications are required. Applicants must demonstrate an in-depth awareness of historic preservation, and have historic restoration experience, and/or be on the MHPC list of approved contractors. A completion date before Labor Day, 2027 (Monday, September 6, 2027) is required. The window installation must be accomplished during the Seguin Island open “season”, between June 1 and September 6. Bids for this work must be received by October 30, 2025. Please send to keeper@seguinisland.org Further questions: email or call 207 443-4808.
