The summer has come to a close, but Friends of Seguin Island Light Station will be working all through the fall, winter, and spring planning and working for the 2026 season. Maintaining an historical landmark such as a lighthouse on an island 2 ½ miles offshore is not just turning off the lights for eight months. Here are the major projects we will be working on: Boat house restoration, Erosion at the cove, Infrastructure to handle more visitors, CoveCam, Using goats on the island for poison ivy containment (yes, goats can safely eat poison ivy), Keepers House windows, Mooring maintenance, Ox trail restoration and material movement from cove to top of island, Parapet maintenance, Dock installation, Right whale protection project, Sanitation improvements, Solar power maintenance, Tramway preservation, Water purification. So please don’t forget being a Seguin Lover on the off-season. Your contributions will provide the means for FOSILS to maintain all of these projects. Thank you for a great 2025 season.
