June 20, 2025 - Tuesday was an exciting day at the island with the placement of an 8000 lb "Bravo" mooring capable of holding boats up to 130' just outside of the cove. "Bravo" is intended to preserve the ocean bottom and protect local fishermens' gear from damage that comes with multiple anchor drops of larger visiting boats. "Bravo may be reserved at times for visiting training ships which will be given priority for its use. All other moorings are still on a first come, first serve basis. Currently we only have three such moorings as the winters have carried away two balls. FOSILS is looking to find a diver to find and restore the two missing chains. While there, we will be inspecting the three operational moorings for our visitor boats' safety. NOTE: BRAVO MOOR00ING is reserved on June 21 for a visit by the training schooner HARVEY GAMAGE . Please do not tie up to this mooring until she departs in mid-afternoon.
